Rwanda Premier Legue 2024-2025: APR FC’s head Coach, Darko Nović faces intense pressure from fans

APR FC coach Darko Nović is facing a challenging period after a string of dropped points in the league, sparking questions from many fans regarding his tactics and decisions on the field.

On Sunday, APR FC drew 0-0 with Rutsiro FC, further slipping in the league standings. This outcome intensified fans’ concerns over the team’s direction under Nović’s leadership.

With only eight points after five league matches, APR FC now trails Rayon Sports, the top team, by 12 points. Following the Rutsiro FC draw, many APR fans expressed deep concerns about the club’s future, especially since Nović has been at the helm for four months, yet the team’s progress remains unclear.

Since his appointment as APR FC’s head coach, Nović has faced high expectations from the club’s passionate fans. However, following a disappointing CECAFA Kagame Cup performance and other recent setbacks, his output continues to raise questions.

This ongoing underperformance has led many to question his management approach, especially given the team’s struggles in both attack and overall gameplay.

So far in the league, APR FC has struggled to score, managing only three goals in five matches, two of which came from penalties.

The players’ performance on the field has also been concerning, especially the strikers, who appear to lack effectiveness—a point fans attribute to the coach’s tactical decisions.

During the recent match with Rutsiro FC, Nović made substitutions that left fans puzzled. He took out key players like Richmond Lamptey and Lamine Bah, bringing in Mugiraneza Frodouard and Niyibizi Ramadhan. This decision has stirred more questions among fans.

APR FC supporters have voiced disappointment in Nović’s frequent changes, suggesting he isn’t utilizing the right players effectively. Many fans believe that talented players are being left out, which is preventing the team from achieving strong results.

Although APR FC hasn’t lost many games, their scoring struggles continue, especially when they’re often unable to create goal-scoring opportunities.

Fans are putting increased pressure on Nović to deliver tactical improvements on the pitch. They believe it’s time for the coach to bring about positive changes, or for the club to explore other options that might help restore confidence and bring success to their fan base.

Darko Nović still has time to demonstrate his ability to lead the team, but supporters expect to see a quick turnaround in APR FC’s play style to ease the mounting pressure. Fans remain hopeful for immediate improvements that will bring pride back to the club and restore their faith in the team’s future.
