Azam FC touch down in Rwanda ahead of “Rayon Day” clash
Tanzanian club Azam FC has arrived in Rwanda just a day before their friendly match against Rayon Sports, set to take place on “Rayon Day.”
Early on Friday morning, August 2, 2024, Azam FC landed at Kigali International Airport, where they were warmly welcomed by Rayon Sports Secretary Namenye Patrick and Spokesperson Ngabo Roben.
Invited by Rayon Sports for a friendly match, Azam FC will go up against Rayon Sports on Saturday, August 3, at Kigali Péle Stadium.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM, following a pre-game ceremony showcasing Rayon Sports’ new kits, players, and jersey numbers.
In addition, Rayon Sports’ men’s and women’s teams will unveil their new signings for the upcoming season.
Azam FC will also introduce its new squad members in an effort to boost their fan base in Rwanda, as announced by the team.
The festivities at Kigali Péle Stadium will feature performances by artists Bushali and Platin P, with music mixed by DJ Brianne.
As of Thursday evening, August 1, VVIP tickets were sold out, VIP tickets were 93% sold, VIP (Regular) tickets were 85% sold, and General tickets were 57% sold.
Azam FC recently returned from Morocco, where they played friendly matches in preparation for the CAF Champions League, with their opening game scheduled against APR FC between August 16-18, 2024.
Meanwhile, Rayon Sports has also been busy with friendly matches in preparation for the new season, starting with a game against Marine FC at Kigali Péle Stadium on August 15.
